The HalfPhab Solarium is a curved, glazed arch that wraps one wall of the home you already own. It captures low winter sun to pre-heat the house, shades the high summer sun, and gives you a bright four-season room in between.
The half-arch geometry is tuned to the sun's path at your latitude — steep enough to catch the low winter sun, angled to shade the high summer sun. The wall behind it becomes a warm buffer instead of a cold, wind-hit surface.
Low winter sun pours through the glazing and warms the air against your wall, pre-heating the home before your furnace or heat pump ever runs. On a sunny winter day the solarium can reach the low 30s °C inside — far above the ~20 °C your house needs, and that surplus is what gets banked.
The high summer sun is turned away by the curve, and retractable interior shades reject the rest — so the room stays comfortable instead of baking.
Bright, sheltered space you actually use year-round — a sunroom, a mudroom buffer, a place to start seedlings — that happens to lower your energy bill.
Locally fabricated timber ribs bent to the arch, skinned in clear or translucent polycarbonate, on a base sized to your wall. Designed to last in the Canadian climate — and almost entirely recyclable or reusable if it's ever taken down.
